THE ENGINE
The howl goes out.
The woof comes back.
Porter Labs is the agency. The Woof Back is the engine underneath it: the pipeline that finds the questions your market asks, answers them in public, and then proves which answer brought you the work.
- 01
Research
Find the questions your market is actually asking.
- 02
Write
Draft sourced, schema-rich answers to them.
- 03
Publish
Ship them to your domain, which stays yours.
- 04
Rank
Watch positions, SERP features and competitors each week.
- 05
Cite
Check daily whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude cite you.
- 06
Convert
Trace the enquiry back to the answer that caused it.
Convert feeds Research. A query where an assistant cites someone else becomes the next article in the queue.
What it refuses to publish
Most content tools help you write faster. This one is mostly a set of things that stop the publish button working.
- Every figure carries its source, or it is not a figure
- Consequential numbers are tagged to a specific evidence row. A number with no tag, or a tag pointing at a row that does not contain it, is caught before review.
- Fabricated claims are cut, not rewritten
- If an invented figure survives the redraft loop, the sentence containing it is deleted outright. Nothing is smoothed over into something that reads plausible.
- A quality floor a human cannot wave through
- Articles must clear a self-check score of 85 out of 100 to publish. Editors can override many things; that floor is not one of them.
- Corroboration counted properly
- Sources are counted by registrable domain, so five blogs repeating one study count as one study, not five. Claims also carry whether a date is the publication date or merely the date we read it.
- Regulated subjects get stricter gates
- Health, finance and legal content is blocked from publishing when it does not meet its own trust rules.
How AI answers are actually measured
Assistants are not equally measurable, so they are not treated as if they were.
- Perplexity and Gemini, asked directly
- Queried straight, and the answer is read for whether you are cited and where.
- ChatGPT, through a measurement API
- Checked through an AI-optimization endpoint rather than guessed at.
- Claude, on the same daily sweep
- Claude was the last of the four to become measurable at all, which is why most tools still quietly leave it out of the number they show you. It is in ours.
- Google AI Overviews, observed not queried
- There is no direct check, so presence is read out of the weekly search crawl instead.
- Search presence is never sold as a citation
- One source returns search presence rather than answer citations, and it is labelled that way in the data. The two are not added together to make a bigger number.
- What gets stored per check
- Whether you were cited, in what position, which URLs were cited, which competitors appeared, and whether the engine returned nothing at all, which is different from not citing you.
- Assistants quoting you without crediting you
- When an answer reuses your wording but names nobody, that is logged as unattributed reuse. You wrote the answer the machine gave. You should at least know it happened.
- And who is being named instead
- Every domain that turns up for your tracked questions goes on a share-of-voice board, competitors included. When the answer is not you, we know exactly who it was, and that becomes the next thing we write.
How a lead becomes proof
The part most agencies cannot show you.
- First-party, on your own domain
- A first-party beacon records first touch, referrer and campaign parameters into an append-only log.
- The enquiry knows which article it came from
- A captured lead carries the article that produced it, then the outcome: contacted, quoted, amount, completed.
- Your CRM closes the loop
- When you mark a deal won in the CRM you already use, that comes back to the enquiry it started as, stamped with its value and its date. You are not asked to move systems for us.
- Revenue joined back to the answer
- Citations, AI-referred visits, leads and revenue are joined per engine and per article, so the question "which answer paid for itself" has an actual answer.
Why that matters when you hire us
Porter Labs is a small agency holding a large machine. The parts most agencies do by hand are the parts the engine does continuously.
- It runs whether or not anyone is at a desk
- The research, publishing, ranking and citation checks are scheduled jobs on the engine’s infrastructure. Your visibility is not being watched on the days somebody remembered to look.
- The content lives on your domain, not ours
- Articles and location pages are published to your own site as crawlable, schema-rich HTML, served from the engine’s CDN. If you ever leave, the pages and the domain authority stay where they were built.
- The white label is the architecture, not a logo swap
- The engine was built multi-brand from the start: separate voice, domain, reporting and billing per client. Porter Labs is itself one of those tenants, which is why we can describe what it does this precisely.
- The monthly report is generated, not assembled
- Wins, citations and attributed revenue come out of the same data the system is already keeping, so what you are shown is the record rather than a retelling of it.
- Nothing goes out under your name automatically
- The engine writes; a person decides whether it publishes. There is no silent autoposting running on your brand.
THE FINE PRINT, UP FRONT
What we do not claim
The engine flags its own thin samples and labels its own numbers directional. The same honesty belongs on this page.
- Blue-link rankings are checked weekly, not daily. Only the AI citation sweep runs daily.
- Four assistants are measured: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. Copilot, Grok and the rest are not, and are not counted toward anything you are shown.
- Google AI Overviews presence is inferred from the weekly crawl, not from a direct query.
- Citation sampling is a sample. A single run of a single prompt is close to noise, and combinations with too few runs are flagged rather than reported as fact.
- Monitoring spend is budgeted per brand, so checks are prioritised rather than guaranteed to run for every brand every single day.
- Nothing is posted to social platforms automatically. The engine writes the copy; a person sends it.
